A girl friend of mine offered a free ticket to the Fiddler on the Roof show at the Hale Center and I accepted happily. When we stopped for dinner before the show I became acutely aware that I looked like I was on a date.

She didn't buy my dinner and I didn't buy hers but the fact that it was just the two of us made me wonder if people thought I was. It's not like I acted any different but I was curious if people were able to see we're just two friends eating at the same time.
{As a funny side note, this topic always helps me remember the capital of Portugal. Lisbon. I always have to say "Lesbian, Lez-benon, Lisbon." No joke. Any word parodies you'd like to share?}

people probably just thought you were two friends having dinner. I can always tell when two women are on a date. 1) one of them looks like she could be a man, has short hair that's dark and spiked, and multiple earrings, or 2) they're holding hands. dead giveaway.
I'm sure you had nothing to worry about. Did you enjoy Fiddler?
It was fantastic! I probably should have mentioned that in the post, it was opening night and absolutely fabulous!
I'm so jealous! I love Fiddler! Whenever I go out in public with a female friend (even if we have the kids) I always wonder if people think we're lesbo. Here, they're not as easy to identify...
I agree with the first post. You can normally tell, even in MIssouri, when people are "together." I am sure it was totally fine...
I am glad you enjoyed the play! I have always wanted to see it.
I think I would normally assume two girls were just friends going out for fun unless it's pretty obvious they are more than that.
I totally do that too. There is a Lisbon restaurant around here and every time I drive by there I say that and every time Chris rolls his eyes. That is hilarious!
LOL. I have a friend that has two kids just like me and the two of us got a "family" pass to the Magic House because it's for 2 adults and 4 kids. So now whenever we go there we tease each other that we are "partners." lol
i get that feeling every once in a while myself. a co-worker and i will go to the movies together fairly often & we've both known each other so long that if we go to lunch or dinner together that if one of us gets there first we'll order the other person's drink. which probably looks a little "date-ish" rather than just "good friend-ly" . . . but i try not to worry about it, because it's not like we're playing footsie under the table. ;)
haha...too funny. I remember going to an Indigo Girls concert with my sister and she threatened me with my life if I even touched her...I guess she might be in the same class as Chad...HOMOPHOBE!
