Busy Busy

This last week has been super busy but nothing worth mentioning really.

Monday I had lunch with Alex and I worked until 6:30 or so; my good friend Katie stopped by for dinner with her son Kaden [what a DOLL!] and her mom. It was so nice to see friends from California. Katie and I were such good friends in high school, I had the best abs of my life from all the laughing we did. I think I laughed so hard I cried at least every other day. Oh good times.

Tuesday Alex came over after work and we watched Walk the Line. I started waking up to the soundtrack last week and have been wanting to watch it ever since. I had been waking up to Christmas music since November, I thought it was time for a change. Seriously, try waking up to Feliz Navidad and tell me you're not in a good mood and ready for the day. I dare you.

Wednesday Alex and I went to dinner at Costco for a chicken bake and chicken salad then over to the rec center to jog around the track and go swimming. Fun fun. He's the first guy I'm not embarrassed to be seen in a bathing suit around. I don't know if I'm just more comfortable with my body or him.

Thursday we went to Michaels where we picked out some yarn and a pattern to crochet a blanket. Have I told you all that he crochets? He had it hidden in the corner of his living room and I asked him what it was, he was so embarrassed. It is just so endearing that he does that. He has made the blankets that his nephews and niece were blessed in [actually, he makes the blankets and about halfway done someone announces they're pregnant - he's magical]. So we're doing a blanket that we can each work on a square then we'll sew together into a big blanket. Nice huh.

Friday we're going to Desert Star playhouse for a melodrama, Pirates of the Car-Rib-EEE-An. It should be a rip-roaring good time. I'm taking the camera so hopefully we can finish off the last 8 pictures on the disposable camera and we can get them developed. I promise if there are any decent ones I'll post them so you can all see what he looks like. I think we look pretty good together.

Saturday I'm going to get a pedicure with my not-Davis-anymore girls [when I first started going to the singles ward I had to give adjectives to my different friends so my parents could keep them straight, they were my Davis girls because they lived on Davis Blvd, but have since moved]; the 3 of us are going to Disneyland next Tuesday and need to have our toenails done for all the sandal wearing we plan on doing. I think I might need to get some new walking shorts too, I think mine are all 4 sizes too big now. Hmmm that could be a problem. Anyway, that night Alex and I are making dinner then going to Stake Conference.

Sunday is Stake Conference, we're going with my parents, then laze around the rest of the day crocheting. There's also a birthday party at 6:30 for a friend [talk about awkward, she wanted to date Alex, but I won] and a YSA dinner mingle at 7.

Phew, it's a lot of little stuff going on but nothing huge, except for the melodrama.
Fabulously fun and packed week.

What do you guys talk about?

Alex was out of town all last week. His job usually keeps him in Utah but once a month or so he has to travel to Wyoming, Oregon, and Washington. Last week he was in Oregon and Washington making the rounds for work.

We'd text periodically during the day which was nice. I'd get ready for bed around 8:30 and hop in bed. 8:30 people! But I didn't go to sleep. Alex will call and we'll talk for a good 2 hours or more. His boss the other day found that astounding. 'What do you guys talk about for 2 hours?'

EVERYTHING and anything. I honestly can say our friendship has grown because we haven't been able to rely on being together. Good thing we enjoy talking on the phone because he's going to be gone this entire week again, this time in Idaho. *sigh*

Lunch Date

I went out with (Tuesday's post) Rob this afternoon. I was late. Like 15 minutes late and it was 2 blocks from my office. I had a client who was taking for-eh-ver to finish something.

First impressions of Rob:
Glasses but vibrant blue eyes
Button up shirt with only one button undone but still a lot of chest hair poking through [um ew]
Kind of tubby
Didn't stand up to greet me [why is this not done anymore?]
Kind of a goober

This is only my second blind date ever and compared to the angry midget, I think this one went fairly well. We did the awkward small talk about family, school, likes, hobbies, etc. I'm realizing that I'm a total brat. Since losing my weight [PS-I'm a solid 10 now which I'm ecstatic about] I find that a tubby guy just isn't of interest. And let me tell you, I looked dang foxy today. I had on a striped button up shirt, my vest, black slacks and my new motorcycle jacket that I'm in LOVE with. Alex was with me when I bought it and he about jumped me in the store. It's a magic jacket.
but in black, smokin'

Anyway, we're leaving and he's walking in front of me and I check him out and he's got a bubble butt. Oh man. Done. Thanks for lunch, it was real. See ya.

He walks me to the car and tells me I look great. I know, I say. He wants a hug and I do a side hug. He texts me 15 minutes later asking for a date on Saturday. Gosh darn it I'm busy. How about Sunday. Nope going to a fireside.

It's a seriously magical jacket. $100 on sale plus a discount, got it for $35. "I'm in love, I'm in love and I don't care who knows it!" Who can name that movie?

What Did I Get Myself Into and Random Thoughts

This little old man came in to the office today to talk with Geoff. He gave me a Nutrigrain bar and some Starburst candies like I was 6 years old. As he was leaving he asked me what my husband did for work. I said I wasn't married. He asks me if I want to get married in the temple. I said yes. He proceeds to tell me about his grandson who is 28 and looking to meet a good Mormon girl. He lives in Roy, graduated from Weber in advertising and is doing some grad work now.

Grad school huh? I say coyly, I'm always up for a lunch date.

Good old Lyle whips out his phone right then and there and says I'm going to have him talk to you. Blood comes rushing to my face. My faith in God is founded on a firm foundation because it went to voice mail. *phew* that was close. He decides to take pictures of me so he can show Rob later.

I pose at my desk. Then he wants a full body shot. Laughing with embarrassment and complete shock I get up and stand with my hand on my hip like I always do and wonder, If Lyle were my pimp, how much do you think he would charge?

He is pleased with his cellphone pictures and proceeds to call Rob...again. He leaves a voice mail message with all sorts of compliments and exaggerations about me that my face color moves from a lovely shade of sun-kissed-rose to fuchsia. Then he makes me say hi to Rob in the voice mail message. Oh my gosh. I was hoping Lyle would give my office number to him and have him call for a lunch date.

The absolute best part is Lyle begins to tell me of three individuals that he set up on dates or introduced and within weeks of meeting they're getting married. At which point my loving and protective brother stepped in and said, "that's enough Lyle" and shoved him out the door.

Thank goodness for brothers.

**Update 4/7 - I just got off the phone with Rob and Lyle. Both of them on speakerphone with me. AWKWARD... but we're going to Famous Dave's tomorrow. Ribs for a first date? Strike one.
