My parents are leaving today for a week and a half long trip to Europe - 5 days in Paris and another 3 or 4 in London. Which leaves me in a huge house all by my lonesome. I don't think I've been alone for more than a day since I left Missouri, I'm actually kind of nervous. We'll see if I start talking to myself just to fill the quiet and feel less alone.
I think I'm going to make it a point to get out and do things. I am a homebody, I would happily hardly leave my house. But I think I'm going to attempt a Saturday movie - which is huge for me. Maybe I'll go for some long walks. And of course shopping.
What do you guys do when you're completely alone? I need some ideas.
PS. Tonight I am working with a group in the ward to clean the Bountiful Temple. Evidently they have members in the temple district help with vacuuming or something. 9:30 to midnight cleaning, then up at 6 for work. I think I'll need a nap tomorrow.

Thanks for the birthday wishes!! Hmm...I can't remember the last time I had some real good solid alone time. But, if I did.... I would go running, then read a really good book that I can't put down, then rent my favorite movies. But that would only last a day...so then the next couple days I would sew a really cute purse or apron. Good luck!!! Have you met any friends in the singles wards???? Have them over to hang out or make cookies.
I love to make things. Or go to the thrift stores and yard sales. I really love doing that, actually.
Oh dang!! I wish I could just come hang out with you for a week. I even have no husband for the next 5 weeks so I totally could have... Well, next time, we'll plan better! LOL!
Before I had Tyler I couldn't get a job anywhere in the Yak because 1) economy downturn = 0 jobs and 2) those I was qualified for turned me down because I was pregnant. SO, that left me home alone for like 4 months. It got really old REALLY fast, but I tried to keep myself busy. I think my favorite thing was trying to be like the people on Food Network and cook meals from scratch. You know, the time consuming ones that you think you can never achieve because really, who has the time, right?!?
But I'm with you. Homebody at heart, so I always enjoy a good book or a good movie.
And hey, if you're feeling REALLY adventurous. You could come visit me in NJ next weekend... :)
I find myself alone during the day a lot now that I am not working and on summer break. I have begun to make meals from scratch too. (Lauren, great minds think alike!) My other go-to;s are always reading, renting movies, writing actual letters to old friends, making lists of things I want to accomplish, and organizing anything and everything. I might be up in Utah in July so we should plan for a lunch or dinner ;)
Fantastic ideas! I saw on someone else's blog she had a list of things to do since they just moved - hiking, exploring neighborhoods that look interesting, going to flea markets, etc. Maybe that's what I need, make a list so I'd be somewhat accountable to you guys. Maybe I'll do a road trip and go to a temple somewhere - like Manti.
Watching a movie or two is always a good thing. I definitely recommend the movie Taken. Or Bleak House is a good one. It is a mini series so it last hours. I watched it every night when Chris was out of town. Persuasion, Jane Austen classics, are good too.
When Steve was gone, I quickly learned that watching TV at night made me depressed. Honestly, I don't remember what I did, but I was busy :)
