Dizzy Lan and Sandy A Go

*warning: lots of pictures ahead with some ridiculous commentary.
Many of you have been wanting to see a picture of the much ballyhooed Alex. Here you go. I think he's cuter in person. We're still working on the disposable camera but we still have a few more to go. Hopefully when I go to St. George this weekend with him for a wedding we can use up the remaining pictures.

Gosh dang my eyes look really blue in this picture. Lately they've been more gray and green, not so much blue. Pardon the greasy bangs.

Me and my No-Longer-Davis girls went to California last week. It was a much needed break from work and life. We had a BLAST. I was a little trepidatious about the whole thing, this is my first vacation I've had in 2 years that wasn't with family. I knew I'd have a blast with Stephanie but in all honesty, I wasn't sure how Emily and I would fair. Turns out, we all got along swimmingly. No arguments, no yelling, no contention of any sort. Just perfect and relaxing.

DAY ONE: May 5 [Cinco de Mayo, baby!]

Seriously the best way to kick off a vacation. Pink Mickey ears and a thumbs up in sunny Southern California. We had beautiful weather the entire trip.

[Emily, Stephanie, me]

I remember the castle being so much bigger. Does everyone else feel that way? It's like Mount Rushmore. You get there and say, "really? that's it? huh, I always thought it would be bigger."

Riding on the train back to the main gate. We learned quickly to take advantage of sitting time. Your feet get so tired of standing and walking around this place.

"ah shucks. ah-hyuck" That's my best Goofy impersonation.

Oh glorious sun and palm trees and clear skies and 75-degree weather. How I long for you.

Working it.

It was Cinco de Mayo so I HAD to get a picture of the Mexicans.

Seriously, all the new dolls in the stores looks so weird. Tell me, if you had this doll in your room at night, wouldn't you totally believe it was watching you and you'd wake up to it strangling you. I still get the shudders just thinking about it. The Snow White doll looked POSSESSED.

The magic kingdom. We had such a fabulous day.

DAY TWO: May 6

Coming from Utah I said, I will not, repeat, will NOT come back as pasty white as I got here. Thursday I laid out [sans sunblock] while the girls went to walk around the strip mall across the street. I was so red but it has turned into the most amazing tan.

I have a theory. People have better sex when they're tan. But I think really it's people that are tan are trying to take care of their bodies - work out, etc. So therefore, easier and more fun sex. Anyone tested that theory? I wish I could. I'm so beautifully tan I'd do myself!

DAY THREE: May 7
Arrived at Disneyland around 10:15am, left around 11pm. Freaking long day.

Now we see why Mickey really likes Minnie, she's such a hussy!

Our first day at Disneyland we were in line for Space Mountain and it closed down. Emily was a little bummed because this was her must-ride ride. So that was the first thing we did Friday morning.

Right after the Pirates of the Caribbean ride [PS-I don't know how I feel about the fact that they've gone back and added Jack Sparrow and Captain Barbosa to the ride. Feels like they're commercializing off the movie. Any opinions?]

Only one of us could wear the hat and pull it off. Emily's got those crazy eyes!

Paradise Pier - my favorite section of the park. Love love love California Screamin' and the Maliboomer. I honestly was screaming and laughing so much I was hoarse and had the smokers laugh.

"Let me out, let me out!"

Around 3pm we decided to head back to the hotel for lunch [we bought cereal, milk, and sandwich stuff to save money and our waistlines] and of course this was in the middle of a shift change in bus drivers. We were super cranky and not too quiet about it. After sitting waiting for the bus for 20 minutes and then another 40 on the bus waiting for the new driver, we were ticked.

Stephanie was more than miffed. But I took this picture and then we started laughing like nutters. We were getting a little slap happy by then.

Oh my gosh, best ride ever! Emily got to ride with Achmed. Stephanie and I were screaming and laughing like banshees, I apologized after and he said "my wife wouldn't go on the ride with me. You guys made it fun". Oh Achmed, can I keep you?

Second best ride. I about peed in my pants the first time we rode, so not ready for the camera. This is the Hollywood Tower Hotel/Tower of Terror. And it is the most amazing freefall ride. It shoots you up a few flights, then drops, then up and up again, picture, then just up and down and up and down. LOVE IT!

The second time we rode this ride we knew where the camera was so we practiced our scared faces. "Should we have curled fingers, or straight? Open eyes or shut tight like we're really screaming?" Mainly it was Stephanie and me who were planning, by this point Emily was probably rolling her eyes at us.

My favorite part is the lady next to us. "What is wrong with those girls?!"

Oh yeah, you know this is going to be a Facebook profile picture in a week or two.

Muppets 3D - Stephanie did not grow up watching the Muppets or Sesame Street so she didn't understand the appeal. But I mean come on. It's the Muppets. In 3D. But she went anyway because I went on Small World with her. That's what friends do. Torture the other with terrible rides at Disneyland.

DAY FOUR: May 8, San Diego
On the fourth and final full day in sunny SoCal we went to San Diego to visit my friend, Celine. Celine and I were roommates back at BYU - she is such an awesome friend.

Me and the Dr. P in front of the San Diego temple. I drank more soda those 4 days than I have in the last 6 months.

The girls

We met Celine and her cute hubby Cameron and went to Seaport Village. It's a fun little area of San Diego right on the harbor with lots of funky shops, restaurants, street vendors, and an occasional boat.

Oh so many memories come back when I see Celine. We were so sassy at college. We were in the same ward and I started dating a guy who was roommates with a guy she just broke up with. We started hanging out to help her get over Dave and became fast friends. I moved in and we spent the summer laying by the pool for HOURS playing gin rummy. That was SUCH a good summer.

After we visited Seaport we drove across the bridge to Coronado Island and stopped in at the Hotel Del. Such a cool building. We saw several weddings taking place along the beach.

Celine and Cameron. Such a great couple! We later went to dinner at the Coyote Cafe where we had the best handmade tortilla chips and salsa. We went back to the hotel and packed up and were back in Utah by 1pm the next day. Such a wonderful trip and loads of fun and great memories. Thanks Stephanie and Emily for letting me tag along on your trip.

That was such a fun afternoon/evening! It was awesome hanging out with you and really made me wish you lived closer (I say you and not me because I don't wish I lived in Utah, but I wish you lived in California :)). Thanks for always being such a great friend and please come back and visit again :)

He is way cute! Love all the pics! And the tan thing, totally true. I make sure to maintain my tan year round. Makes for a good marriage. That reminds me, I better go spray mine on right now. :)

"DAY TWO: May 6th". second paragraph. tears... dying... laughing out loud... love it! Just might have to test that one out. Except, I don't really tan - not since dive team days... remember standing on the bleachers and showing off our "white suits"?? I think I actually have pictures from that day... ha ha ha!

Have been to Disney World? If yes, are the castles the same size in both locations? I think your tan and exercise theory relates to a bigger thing of self confidence. I think self confidence is tied to better sex and many other things that make a marriage good. By the way he is cute and his eyes are just beaming over you.

This is my favorite part of the whole blog! :) I guess this does make me a little pervy, but being tan is so nice! I'm glad you guys had so much fun!

I wish we went the same day as you but we went on tuesday. :( Looks like you had fun. Hopefully someday soon you'll be able to test out your tan theory. :) But yeah I agree cause I feel prettier tan.
